The same page lists M1, M2 and Intel Mac minis, all out of stock that day. It says servers come online within 24 hours on business days. There is no long term commitment, and you can cancel any time. Each Mac gets one IPv4 address. Extra IPv4 addresses are $1.99 a month, and IPv6 is free on request. The page shows 99.9% uptime and business hour hands-on support.

Mac Mini Vault also sells colocation. Its home page lists Mac mini colocation from $59.99 a month and Mac Studio colocation from $79.99. Dedicated Mac Studios start at $254.99. The footer says Mac hosting since 2010.

Rent or colocate: a rough break-even

Colocation only makes sense if you own the Mac. Apple's list price for the base M6 Mac mini is $899. Add Mac Mini Vault's $59.99 colocation fee for 12 months, and the first year costs about $1,619. A year of MacRun's M6, with the launch month, costs $1,598.

After the first year, colocation is clearly cheaper, because the Mac is paid for. The trade is work and risk. Mac Mini Vault's own comparison says colocation repairs are your responsibility, and the server goes online after your Mac arrives. With its rental plans, they own and repair the hardware. Renting from MacRun works the same way: the Mac is ours, not yours.

Who should choose Mac Mini Vault

  • You already own Macs. Colocation at $59.99 a month is cheaper than renting any Mac, if you supply the hardware.
  • You want two US sites. Milwaukee and Phoenix are far apart, which helps if you run Macs in both.
  • You need a public IPv4 address, reverse DNS or a managed firewall. These are listed as included or as add-ons.
  • You need 64 GB today. Their M4 Pro 1TB was available to order. Our 64 GB M5 Pro is $319 a month but is a pre-order of about a week.
  • You need a Mac Studio. MacRun does not offer one.

Where MacRun is different

The M6 is in stock. A new MacRun Mac is ready 1 to 4 hours after payment, any day. The runner plan is $139 a month. The first month is $69 under the launch offer.

The Mac is set up for Apple development before you log in. Xcode 26.6 is installed and opened once. The iOS 26.5 simulator runtime is there. The GitHub Actions runner software is preinstalled, and you can add GitLab, Buildkite or Jenkins agents over SSH. You have full administrator access.

The agent plan costs $169 a month, $84 for the first month. Claude Code and Codex are installed. You sign in with your own plan. The desktop opens in a browser tab from our portal, and the agent session survives reboots.

We publish a benchmark, so you know what the M6 does. A clean build of the Wikipedia iOS app took 86 seconds on our M6. A GitHub-hosted macos-26 runner took 183 seconds.

Setup time and support

Mac Mini Vault says its dedicated servers are provisioned within 24 hours on business days. It offers support by phone, email and ticket, with business hour hands-on help. MacRun has a Mac ready 1 to 4 hours after payment. Support is by email at support@macrun.dev and is usually answered within the hour. We do not offer phone support. If your team wants to call someone, Mac Mini Vault fits that better.

What MacRun does not offer

  • No colocation for your own Mac.
  • No public or static IP. Access is over a private Tailscale network.
  • No SLA, and one location in New Jersey.
  • No Mac Studio, and no phone support. Support is by email.

If you want an M6 running today with Xcode ready, see MacRun pricing. Live uptime for every machine is on our status page.
