A MacinCloud alternative for a whole Mac of your own

If you want a MacinCloud alternative, first check which MacinCloud plan you mean. Most of its plans are a user account on a shared Mac, with no admin rights. Its Dedicated plans give you admin access. On September 24, 2026, those started at $114.99 a month for an M1. MacRun rents a dedicated M6 Mac mini at $139 a month.

What MacinCloud sells

We read MacinCloud's plan checkout on September 24, 2026. We tried again on October 4. The home page and checkout did not load for us, and the plan selector showed no prices. So the prices below are from September 24. The billing terms further down were read on October 4.

Checked 2026-09-24. Monthly price, USD.

Plan What you get Price
Managed M4 user account on a shared Mac $39 to $59
Dedicated M1 8 GB, admin access $114.99
Dedicated M1 16 GB, admin access $139.99
Dedicated M2, M4 sold out
Runner plan no desktop, sold on a beta site $29
First day 24 hour Managed plan $0.99

On October 4, the checkout said Managed plans do not give administrator or root access. You get a user account with apps already installed, reached over Microsoft Remote Desktop. It said Dedicated plans give full administrator and root access. Its site banner said "From $25 /month" that day. We could not see which plan that price buys.

On September 24, the dedicated checkout offered only the M1, in Frankfurt. The configurator also sold M1 plans by CPU core count. The site does not say whether that is a whole Mac mini, so ask before you buy.

MacinCloud billing and refunds

We read MacinCloud's billing policy on October 4, 2026. It says all sales are final. Plans renew automatically, and you are not notified before a renewal. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. You get no refund for the current cycle.

Pay-as-you-go purchases cannot be cancelled or refunded. Those credits expire if you do not log in for 60 days in a row. On time limited plans, going over the daily login limit moves you up to the next tier. Any other refund is at MacinCloud's discretion.

Which MacinCloud plan do you actually need?

Many people searching for MacinCloud just need Xcode for a few hours. For that, a shared Managed plan or the $0.99 first day is the cheapest answer. MacRun does not sell anything that small.

CI and coding agents are different. You install a runner or an agent, pin Xcode versions and keep caches. That needs admin rights and a machine nobody else uses. So compare MacinCloud's Dedicated plans with MacRun, not its shared ones. If your team runs few macOS builds, GitHub-hosted runners may cost less than either. Our cost calculator does the math.

Who should choose MacinCloud

  • You need a Mac for hours or a day. The $0.99 first day and pay-as-you-go plans fit that.
  • You only need Xcode and a desktop, with no admin rights. A Managed plan from $39 costs far less than any dedicated Mac.
  • You want the cheapest macOS runner. Its $29 Runner plan was sold on a beta site, so check its limits first.
  • You want a Mac outside the US. Its dedicated M1 was in Frankfurt, and its shared plans are offered in several regions.
  • You want to connect with Microsoft Remote Desktop.

Where MacRun is different

Every MacRun plan is a whole M6 Mac mini, dedicated to you. It is never shared and never virtualized. It has a 12-core CPU, 16 GB and 256 GB, with full sudo. The runner plan is $139 a month, and the first month is $69. MacinCloud's 16 GB dedicated M1 was $139.99 on September 24.

It is ready for iOS work. Xcode 26.6 is installed and opened once. The iOS 26.5 simulator runtime is installed. The GitHub Actions runner software is preinstalled. You reach the Mac by SSH and screen sharing over a private Tailscale network.

The agent plan is $169 a month, $84 for the first month. Claude Code and Codex come installed, and the session survives reboots. You sign in with your own Claude or ChatGPT plan. The desktop opens in a browser tab, and you can steer the agent from your phone.

Billing is monthly, and you can cancel anytime from the portal. We publish speed too. A clean build of the Wikipedia iOS app took 86 seconds on our M6. A GitHub-hosted macos-26 runner took 183 seconds.

Who should not use MacRun

  • You need a Mac for a few hours or days. We bill monthly.
  • A shared desktop with no admin rights is enough for you.
  • You need a Mac outside the US. We have one location.
  • You need an SLA, a static IP or a free trial.
