A Vantix Servers alternative, compared honestly

If you want a Vantix Servers alternative, start with what Vantix sells. Vantix Servers (vantixservers.com) rents dedicated Mac minis from a rack in the US. Its base M4 has 16 GB and 256 GB. It costs $139 a month if you pay $417 for three months up front. Month to month, it is $160. MacRun rents the newer M6 with 16 GB and 256 GB at $139 a month, billed monthly.

What Vantix Servers sells

We read vantixservers.com, its terms and its API docs on October 4, 2026. Every plan is a whole Mac mini. The site says there is no hypervisor and no shared cores.

Each Mac gets a fixed public IPv4 address for the life of the lease. It sits on a private VLAN, apart from other tenants. You connect by SSH or open the desktop in your browser. You get full admin rights and a fresh macOS, and you control updates. The site says your rate is locked for the life of the lease. There are no setup or cancellation fees.

Every account also gets an API. It can check stock, order machines and install SSH keys. It can also create unbranded desktop links to embed in your own product. Vantix targets 99.9% uptime and says that is a target, not a guarantee. Its terms offer a prorated credit if it materially misses that target. We did not find a free trial or a written refund policy.

Three months up front, or month to month?

The lowest Vantix price needs three months paid at once. For the base M4, that is $417. Month to month, the same Mac is $160. Its FAQ says monthly costs about 15% more. You can end the lease at the end of any term with no fee.

Three months of MacRun's M6 cost $347 with the launch offer. That is $69 for the first month and $139 for each month after. We bill one month at a time. Vantix is $139 a month on its quarterly plan and $160 month to month, for an M4.

Who should choose Vantix Servers

  • You need a fixed public IP. Webhooks, IP allowlists and services others connect to all need one. MacRun has no public IP.
  • You want the Mac the moment you pay. MacRun takes 1 to 4 hours.
  • You want to order Macs from code. The Vantix API can order machines and hand out desktop links. That suits resellers and fleet scripts.
  • You need 512 GB on an M4, or 24 GB on an M6, in stock today. MacRun's M6 has 16 GB and 256 GB. Our larger Macs are M5 Pro pre-orders with a build fee.
  • You want an uptime target with a credit written into the terms. MacRun has no SLA.
  • You want your rate locked for the life of the lease.

Where MacRun is different

MacRun's base machine is the M6 Mac mini, with a 12-core CPU, 16 GB of memory and 256 GB. It is in stock. The runner plan is $139 a month with no three-month prepay. The first month is $69 under the launch offer.

Our Mac is ready to build when you get it. Xcode 26.6 is installed and opened once. The iOS 26.5 simulator runtime is installed. The GitHub Actions runner software is preinstalled. You have full sudo. Vantix gives you a fresh macOS. Its CI guide shows how to install Xcode and the runner yourself.

The agent plan is $169 a month, $84 for the first month. Claude Code and Codex come installed. You sign in with your own Claude or ChatGPT plan. The session survives reboots. The desktop opens in a browser tab, and you can steer the agent from your phone. Vantix publishes guides for OpenClaw and other agents. There, you install the agent yourself.

Access is private. You reach a MacRun Mac by SSH and screen sharing over a Tailscale network. There is no public SSH port to scan. Some teams want exactly that. Others need the public IP that Vantix gives.

We publish speed numbers. A clean build of the Wikipedia iOS app took 86 seconds on our M6. A GitHub-hosted macos-26 runner took 183 seconds. We did not see build times on the Vantix pages we read.

What happens after you pay

Vantix says your Mac appears in its dashboard once your payment clears. Its API docs say SSH keys are usually installed within a minute or two. MacRun sets up each Mac after payment. It is ready in 1 to 4 hours, and we email you when it is live. On the runner plan, you then register it with your GitHub repo. On the agent plan, you click "Open my Mac" and sign in to Claude Code or Codex.

Who should not use MacRun

  • You need a public or static IP. We have none.
  • You need a Mac within minutes of paying.
  • You want to order and manage Macs through an API.
  • You need more than 16 GB on a Mac that is in stock today.
  • You need an SLA or a free trial. We offer neither.

Compare tiers on our pricing page. The guide to renting a Mac mini for CI covers setup. For Claude Code and Codex, see the agent plan.
